He is not the epitome of intelligence and good public service but his story about the breakfast meeting is revealing of Malacañang’s methods under Aquino.
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., one of the three senators charged with plunder before the Ombudsman in connection with alleged anomalous use of Priority Development Assistance Fund, related Monday an incident that took place in December 2012, a few days before the conclusion of the impeachment of ousted Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Revilla said Roxas, who was then secretary of Transportation and Communication, invited him to a morning meeting at his residence in Cubao. From there, they went to Malacañang’s Bahay Pangarap, Aquino’s residence, with Roxas driving the SUV and he was seated at the back seat.

Revilla said Roxas had the license plate of the SUV removed.

At Bahay Pangarap, they were joined first by and Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad and later by President Aquino. They were served breakfast and he remembered everything on the table: pan de sal, kesong puti, egg, ham, dried beef, friend rice and fruits. The main fare was Corona.

There was no hiding his obsession against Corona.
There was no hiding his obsession against Corona.
Revilla said the President appealed to him: “Parang awa mo na, pare, balato mo sakin ito. Kelangan ko siyang ma-impeach.”

Abad, he said, chimed in: “Let’s help each other, Senator.”

He said he replied: “Mr. President, I will do what is right. I believe that we should fight for what is right, and I will do what is right for the country.”

Revilla was one of the 20 senators who voted “Guilty” to the charge of betrayal of public trust against Corona.
Aquino and Roxas both confirmed the meeting with Revilla but they had different versions of what took place in that meeting.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said the President denied having uttered the words, “balato mo sa akin ito…”

Coloma said, “The President met with Senator Revilla “to verify persistent reports that senators were being pressured by interest groups to influence the outcome of the [Corona] impeachment trial, and he asked the senator to decide the case on the basis of its merits.”

Boy Pick-up
Boy Pick-up
Roxas also issued a statement: “Senator Bong and I used to be in the Senate together. So, when he said he had some issues to discuss with the President, which included the cityhood of Bacoor and his being head of the Lakas Party, I found a way to set up their meeting.

“At the time, the President was not in Malacañan and was at Bahay Pangarap. So as not to disrupt the detail of the PSG and so Senator Bong won’t be inconvenienced, I personally drove him to Bahay Pangarap.

“He lied when he said that I removed my license plate before we went to Bahay Pangarap. I really don’t use an official plate. It’s not attached to my vehicle. I use a regular plate issued by the LTO. The people who have known me for a long time know that I have never used the 8 plate when I was congressman, the 7 plate when I was Senator, or the 6 plate as Cabinet Secretary. I have never attached such plates to my car.”

They are all lying.

Some of the details of each statement are true, some are false. Halftruths are lies.

Aquino was never shy about his desire to remove Corona as part of his reform agenda. Corona’s ouster was a major achievement for him.

Everybody knows they moved heaven and earth to get rid of Corona and the public applauded him for that. To say that Aquino did not meddle in the impeachment of Corona is a big lie.

For Roxas to say that the meeting was not related to the Corona impeachment is a lie.

Revilla is also lying when he said that his vote was about “doing what is right for the country.” He got his reward for his Corona vote for at least P50 million in the form of the Disbursement Acceleration Program. How did he spend that huge sum of money plus his other PDAF?

Don’t BS us about “doing right for the country.” You are lining your pockets with our money. That’s not right for the country.

You are all liars.

Yes na Yes mam Ellen. As the old saying goes. Ang sinungaling ay kapatid ng MAGNANAKAW. Ano ang ninakaw ? Eh di ang pera ng taong bayan.

When Pnoy mentioned that the senators were pressured by some groups to vote in favor of Corona, he was referring to INC which was obviously supporting Corona. One proof was her loyal member former SC Justice Cuevas as Corona’s lead defense counsel. In fairness to other groups that might feel alluded by what Pnoy said, he should tell the people he was countering INC’s pressure on the senators; so he talked to some senators.

Most of the elected senators were endorsed by INC one time or another. Knowing the power of this religious group, Pnoy countered by bribing and talking to the senators. No less than Miriam Santiago said that some senators who already promised INC of their “No” votes would be in trouble with the religious group. Miriam knew.

The question is was it proper for Pnoy to talk to the senators-judges? Answer is it’s highly improper. So what if there were pressures from other groups. But for the President to personally meddle in the impeachment is very disturbing. What difference is it from GMA’s call to Garci? If GMA had her famous “I am sorry”, do we hear the same from Pnoy?

  3. jcj2013 jcj2013

In Garci, we had an illegitimate president trying successfully to prolong his illegitimate stay in Malacañang. In mandaramBong’s amazing story last Tuesday, we had a legitimate president persuading a senator to convict a cheap justice who was a midnight appointee of his illegitimate predecessor. What the public want to know is where did mandaramBong’s PDAF go? This is the real and most paramount issue that the actor-senator should have cleared out in his privilege “spits.”

#3, jcj2013 agree 100%.

  5. Jojo Jojo

and if I may add, ginamit pa ni Mandaram Bong ang father niya para suporta kuno na dating Senador din na wala namang nagawa para sa Bayan. opppps sorry, meron pala. sabungan sa Cavite. at nag ka job ang Kristo at taga lagay ng Tari.

Mayroon daw masagana 99, carabao loan, tahungan loan, fishery loan o anu pa.

The question here is he says and she says…and who is to believe? Jinggoy already denied that he was pressured nor monetarily Bribed ( but who’s going to believe Jinggoy?). So in the end it’s your take and mine.. Plunderers or the non Plunderers..iars they may all the same.. And who does not LIE???

  8. Kung sumabong man ay walang masama. Nag artista at naging sikat.

Very improper to try to influence Senator-judges.

There is one instance where we can actually find out who is lying. Walang spin, walang interpretasyon na mailalagay dito. Either Mar uses official plates or he does not. Witnesses can easily be found, diba?

The impeachment was a political process undertaken by the legislative branch. The entire body politic from the president on down has a right even a duty to get involved in it.

The president’s involvement in the Corona trial is not the same as the Garci incident because that involved the president asking a comelec official to cheat.

Note also that in an impeachment trial, unlike in a court of law, the bar is beyond reasonable doubt. In an impeachment trial the guilty or not guilty verdict is determined by Aye and Nay votes which may or may not have anything to do with the guilt of the person accused. Because politics plays a very important role in the impeachment process.

Note further that senator/judges do not even have to explain their vote. An impeachment is unlike a court of law where the judge has to explain his decision and where trying to influence a judge is a crime.

So let’s be clear. Impeachment is a political process. It is not a procedure in a court of law. The Garci phone call was suborning a criminal act.

To quote Sen Miriam Santiago’s op-ed in Interaksyon.com
“It is not a crime for the President to try to influence the outcome because an impeachment trial is both legal and political in nature. It is illegal for the President to try and influence the courts, because of the principle of independence of the judiciary. But it is legal for the President to try and influence the senator-judges, because he is the nominal head of his political party, and within bounds, he has the right to assure his political survival.”

  12. vic vic

It will be only illegal for Pnoy if he used the Taxpayers Money to Influence the decision in removing Corona.. It was not a Secret that the President was instrumental in impeaching Corona and has to use his influence for his removal as it was a Political process. Had it been a criminal prosecution even a Phone Call to any of the Party in the Proceedings it would had been goodbye Pnoy.

da kap was being dragged in the PDAF scam, bakit napunta sa impitsment ni korona ang kanyang depensa?

if there was one thing revilla must have made clear WAS how he used or spent his PDAF to clear his name from being tagged along with his VBFF janet napulis. his counter trash talks about what is not related to the case he faces is like defending himself against himself.

  17. Mannie Mannie

#7 Vic, it was Jinggoy who first revealed that P50M was given to the senators including himself before or after the impeachment. That was no coincidence. I’m surprised Jinggoy is now singing a different tune contrary to his combative speech. Is something cooking between the Estradas and Aquinos for 2016 and this Bong is now even being dumped by his own buddy compadre Jinggoy?

  18. Mannie Mannie

#19 Yes, he was the one. Malacanang or Pnoy should reveal this to pin down Bong further.

  19. vic vic

@20 Yes Mannie, but that was already clarified by Malacanang that additional 50 millions was part of the Stimulus program and that was after the voting was done..and I believe all those even Bong Bong Marccs and Miriam who voted for Corona also got the additional Porks..

If I were Pres Aquino not to Repeat the mistakes of all Past President, I would not make a Deal with any of these Plunderers but Let Justice takes its Course.

Phl Justice maybe slow, but somehow it has its way of meeting its end…It may take several years to resolve the GMA cases, but at least she lost her liberty to perpetuate her kind of corruption and so for now the impunity that was enjoyed by the Enriles, Estradas and Revilla and most of the Senators and Congressmen (and many in HIGH PLACES) is taking a PAUSE and giving the Taxpayers a little breathing space.

Just hope the Ombudsman will come up with her Charges and have them arrested and detain until their day in Court…just my wish…

Meanwhile we still waiting if our Mayor will be implicated with the Drugs and Gangs issues or be called as a witness, that is now heard in Camera or in Close door as some evidence in a Preliminary is still off the Public against those that were arrested and already accused.

Once indictment is handed down and sent to Trial then the Media is Free to report on the case. For now all is muzzled to report on the details of the case…That is always the case once the cases are filed in the court…

  20. vonjovi2 vonjovi2

#22 Vic, even the if the money or the P50M stimulus program

  22. Mannie Mannie

Cont…was given after the impeachment, it could also be a bribe; a promise given by Malacanang. It doesn’t matter whether it was given before or after impeachment. Coincidence? Maybe. But the money was given after impeachment.

  23. Mannie Mannie

Bong Revilla has a new name now…BOBONG Revilla.

Birds of the same feather fly together. When can we learn and follow China on this?

This sometimes confusing even for the geniuses if the Phl as a society is generally poor because it is corrupt or Corrupt because it is poor.

But there are countries that economically worse than the Philippines but less corrupt and ther are some that are more corrupt but economically better…sometimes it is just that a few percentage of the individuals in the Phl are doing things to the Extreme..Imagine the allegation against these Three Senators Alone…Millions upon millions..Marcos, Billions, Arroyos, in Billions…etc..etc. Trillions.

One of the lawmakers implicated in the pork barrel scam operated by Janet Lim Napoles sent feelers to Malacañang about three weeks ago.

The offer: “I will return the money I got from my PDAF fund plus interest. I will make a public apology. I will resign and will not run for elective office again.”

The requested reward: “Please don’t file plunder charges against me.”

Reason for the offer: “One, I want to spare my grandchildren the stigma of having a grandparent convicted of plunder. Two, I am currently ‘down.’ This is not the best time of my life.”
