Itong mga nakaraang linggo, dalawang mga pekeng isyu ang ibinalibag kay Alan. Isa ay ang kanyang pagsolicit raw ng kontribusyon . Noong isang araw naman, may napadala ng pekeng fax message sa mga diyaryo na nagwi-withdraw na raw niya ang kanyang kandidatura sa pagka-senador dahil dadayain lang naman daw siya.
Ewan ko ba kung bakit kumagat ang isang diyaryo at halatang-halata namang peke. Biro mo sa internet café nanggaling ang e-mail.
Naka-usap naming si Alan kahapon at pinabulaanan niya ang mga kumakalat na paninira sa kanya. Sabi niya mukhang bising-bisi ang dirty tricks department ng isang makapangyarihan na mama diyan sa tabi ng Pasig river.
“Sa awa ng Diyos, makikita ng taumbayan ang masama nilang gawain,”sabi ni Alan.
Sabi pa ni Alan, totoong problema ang dayaan sa eleksyon nitong Mayo dahil siyempre gain lahat ng Malacañang na panalunin ang kanilang kandidato kahit isinusuka na sila mga tao. At magagawa lamang nila ‘yan sa pandaraya.
“Kung dayaan ang problema, lalo ko pang pag-iibayuhin ang aking kandidatura para sa senado para mabigyan ng lunas itong problema,” sabi ni Alan.
Sino naman kaya ang may motibo na maghaharang ng pagka-senador ni Alan?
Sino ba ang galit na galit kay Alan? Sino ba ang nag-sampa ng libel suit kay Alan? Sino ba ang gustong ipa-expel si Alan sa Kongreso. Di ba noong hearing noong isang buwan, nagmura pa?
At bakit nga ba galit itong taong ito kay Alan? Dahil kaya sa expose ni Alan tungkol sa $500 milyon na deposito sa isang German bank? At paano naman nagkaroon ng ganito karaming pera itong taong ito?
May nagpa-kumisyon ng survey at tiningnan ang popularity ng mga personalidad sa Pilipinas. Si Alan ay plus 33. Mataas yun. Ang isa sa pinakamababa, mas mababa pa kay Gloria Arroyo na minus 13 yata ay si Mike Arroyo na ang rating ay minus 41.
Kapag plus, mas marami ang may gusto sa iyo kaysa yung mga ayaw. Kapag minus naman, mas marami ang galit sa yo kaysa yung may gusto.
Alam nitong galit kay Alan na walang naniniwala sa kanya. Kaya dirty tricks na lang.

Sa pagkakataong ito ay matatalo sila sa ngasaban, kung palaging bantay-bahay ang mga opposition.
Wala pong may sabing naniniwala sa mga balita laban kay Alan Cayetano lalo na ang mga kasama dito. If there was or were some reports posted in this blog, those were obtained from news reports. In my case, I posted one article taken from Abante, a known anti-Arroyo and pro-opposition paper. Let’s keep an open mind on all issues and consider other possibilities. May mga bagay-bagay na hindi natin gusto at inaasahan pero nangyayari. In politics, anything could happen. Marami pa po mangyayari between now and election day. Even after the election, unexpected things do happen. Sinong mag-aakala na ganyan ka grabeng dayaan ang nangyari noon 2004 election. Alam natin na masamang tao si Arroyo pero sinong mag-aakalang ganoon siya kasama? Manliliit si Satanas kung ikumpara kay Arroyo.

Speaking of dirty tricks, I want to share with you a very touching and inspiring TV documentary that I recently watched entitled “Megumi Yokota Story”. It was about the abduction of this young Japanese girl by the North Korea agents that attracted worlwide media attention. Marami daw Japanese ang na-kidnap ng North Korea pero walang magawa ang Japanese government. North Korea used dirty tricks to get what they wanted. What angered the Japanese people and the victims’ families was despite Nokor’s activities, the Japanese government still sent rice to aid North Korea. Ang sagot naman ng taga-North Korea, ginawa lang naman nila ang ginawa ng Japan 60 years ago. Ganitong gantihan ang dahilan kung bakit hindi magkaisa ang mga bansa. If this is how countries treat one another, how can there be peace?

The dirty tricks have to end somewhere. “Electionering” as we know it as violating election rules has been going on and on, and the body, the Comelec empowered to clean up the mess is not doing anything. First the Newspaper who published the misleading or false story, would have to explain their side to the Comelec and be fined for publishing a false articles and can even be sued by the injured party. But usually a sincere apology by the paper and the measures taken that the same won’t happen again will be suffecient. The comelec or even the Police authorities can not let one incident go, because it will be followed by more. It still a long campaign. The campaign is too long. We can conduct election to the maximum of 45 days and sometimes lesser after the writ was granted. Long campaign, more dirty tricks…
If the opposition ticket finally comes out with a line-up with candidates who are controversial and unacceptable to us, then all we can do is vote those who we like and dump those we don’t like. Kapag matalo ang mga tulad ni Pangilinan at Recto despite being included in the opposition ticket, di lalabas na talagang ayaw sa kanila ng mga tao. During the campaign when they are on stage, people can BOO them like what they did to Arroyo in concert.

Talking of tricks being played Marie Surbano reports in the Daily Tribune that The CBCP is set to hold its plenary assembly on Jan. 25 to 28 wherein they are expected to issue pastoral statement concerning socio-political issues. I would hope that this body of Bishops would condemn, in no uncertain terms, the many instances of strong arm tactics of this administration, their Justice Dept the head of the DILG, PNP and the AFP without being wishy washy but straight to the point in terms and language that everyone understands. It is my opinion that they (bishops) also have to regain the respect of the people and this is their chance to make the first step towards this.

I remember one loop where I suggested that anything not in relation to the issue being discussed be removed. That done, the flow of messages, whether pro or con, was what it should have been, and everyone, whether pro or against the poeple being discussed about, showed some intelligence.
Meanwhile, former allies of the Burot themselves are sending signals to the Opposition that they are ready to jump ship, and can bring more votes for the Opposition, something that I pray the Opposition will not fall for, but stick to those who have been with them loyally from the beginning.
In fact, they can start scouting for new faces from the grassroots movements. There are a lot many of them working in the fields who are ripe for the picking and bring new hopes and ideas that can mean progress and a better Philippines.
I cannot vote because I am not allowed to have dual citizenship. It is against our law. Dual citizenship over here is allowed only for children up to the age of 19 going on 20, but I can recommend Alan Cayetano to Filipinos I have helped encourage to vote in 2004. A lot many of them see the present leadership as bogus, and they will surely vote for Alan Cayetano especially versus the Fatso!
He is in fact, the No. 1 in my friends’ list for this year’s election. Pangalawa lang si Chiz Escudero, but with his photo with Burot blazoned in the Inquirer, I am afraid, he is now under the list. He should write a public apology maybe! 😛

I’d like to remind everybody that the purpose of this blog is to help bring out the truth and uphold justice. In our own small way, we try to contribute towards that goal by discussing and analyzing issues.
That exercise should be based on accurate information. I try to put here, to the best of my ability, accurate information. Because in the first place, why should I and all of us here, waste our precious time on things that are untrue?
That’s the reason why I have mentioned earlier, reports that I do not welcome in this blog. I have long been in the journalism business to know what are legitimate and illegitimate news items.

anyway message is, gaano man kahirap ang kalaban natin, we must have also strategy in winning for more oppositions in the house, that should come more from urban centers (metro manila), provinces na kung saan mahina c gloria at di nya hawak ang governors, and party list.
The administration is focusing on Visayas and Mindanao. They have given up on Luzon as it is opposition territory. This is the reason why cheating was massive in the south last ’04. This is where the true battle will be. The opposition should get as many seats in the lower house. Cheating will be massive and money will flow. This will be the most expensive elections we will ever have. The opposition should exploit the row between the administration and the local officials. The suspensions and dismals were meant to rein in local execs, theis is the whip to get them in line and support the pandak.
Another point to consider is the obvious dumping of Lakas from the coalition. Kampi is now recruiting as many from Lakas as they can. The coalition is now at its weakest, the opposition should exploit this situation. The administration will use all its resources for its propaganda. More mudslinging will be used in the days to come.
One of KAMPI’s strategy is to be the next “Rainbow Coalition” just like how JdV made LAKAS-CMD. From what I understood, KAMPI feels that since their party is GLORIA’s party, & she being the President-Kuno, they should be the strongest & most influential party in the House & NOT LAKAS-CMD. KAMPI would want to coalesce w/ as many political parties as possible. Also, what I hear is that KAMPI would also want the next Senate President to be from KAMPI. I can’t verify this, but from what I get, the name of a certain Benjie Lim is the one KAMPI will pit against JdV.

Philippine media is a microcosm of Philippine society. Corruption is a problem. A corrupt reporter is an irresponsible journalist.

I used to be skeptical of Golez in 2001 but I’ve somehow changed my opinion. He’s one former military officer who could do a good job of helping defeat the unano (if only he would have the ultimate opportunity to fire effective and lethal salvos!)

There seems to be three senatorial slates being formed. The “Erap” slate, made up of the old, long-discredited faces of the Marcos and Estrada regimes, some “new” kids-off-the-old –block, and the great balimbings. Do not talk to me about the “honorable” Nene Pimentel, ok? How can he be honorable when he allows a twice-lost son of his to run and join him in the Senate? Where goes now Nene’s much-vaunted principles against the formation of political dynasties? Just because his son is a bar topnotcher does not qualify him as a legislator. Have you heard of any bar topnotcher who has come to the eye of the public because of his great advocacies and issues? I can only think of Marcos… correct me if I am wrong ha… and we all know what happened when he became President.
