Kontra-Daya slams Comelec, Arroyo

THE presence of several watchdogs in this year’s elections is an offshoot of the fraudulent 2004 elections.

It is a reflection of the Filipino people’s belief in elections as a means of effective and democratic change in the country’s leadership.

In its post-election report, Kontra- Daya one of the non-government watchdogs this election, says the Commission on Elections and Gloria Arroyo are both liable for the questionable reports of the May 14 elections.

Among those who are active in Kontra-Daya are Josie Lichauco, former secretary of Transportation and Communications; Gen. (ret.) Gerry Cunanan and activist Carol Araullo.

Kontra-Daya said the performance of Armed Forces of the Philippines this election was worse than its anomalous role in 2004 as exposed in the Hello Garci tapes.

Kontra-Daya’s take on the military: “The elections in 2007 are far, far worse than that of 2004 with regard to the AFP’s uncalled for and illegitimate involvement. The People’s International Observers Mission (PIOM), Task Force Poll Watch and Kontra Daya’s own election monitoring showed unacceptable patterns of intervention coming from military units and their officials. If in 2004 only some generals were involved in fraud (as revealed by the “Garci tapes”), in 2007 we can say that the entire chain of command was being used and manipulated for the purposes of fraud and violence.

“The Comelec has failed to stop the AFP from engaging in partisan political activities. Two of the most glaring examples are the AFP’s vilification campaign against militant party list groups and the AFP’s all-out support for administration bets and party list groups. The AFP in Metro Manila also attempted to clothe its smear campaign in the guise of a ‘voters’ education program,’ a move immediately unmasked and opposed by various citizens’ groups.

“There are persistent reports that high-ranking officials of the military are using the chain of command to force soldiers to vote for administration bets and party list groups. Fact-finding bodies like the PIOM noted that in Nueva Ecija, soldiers coerced people to vote for the Bantay party list of Gen. Jovito Palparan. Media reports, on the other hand, also say that local absentee voting for soldiers was conducted under questionable conditions. Despite all these issues, the Comelec has turned a blind eye to the blatant partisanship exhibited by the AFP and its officials.”

Kontra-Daya continues to monitor the canvassing of election results by the Comelec. Here are excerpts from its initial conclusions:

“The 2007 elections are compromised by the Comelec’s failure to ensure the credibility of the polls. At the least, it failed to dismantle the structural systems and conditions encouraging wholesale fraud. At most, it showed complicity with blatant acts of fraud and other violations of the Election Code. Even the traditional watchdog groups such as Namfrel and PPCRV, that are official citizens’ arms of the Comelec, have carefully refrained from issuing statements absolving the Comelec of election negligence, mismanagement or sabotage.

“Kontra Daya raises these general statements on the 2007 elections:

1. There are initial indications that the Arroyo administration is engaged in large-scale electoral fraud in an attempt to secure favorable results for its candidates in the national elections (senatorial and party-list).

a. Throughout the campaign period and right up to Election Day, Malacanang led and directed a massive campaign of vote-buying for its candidates.

b. Malacanang has made partisan use of the military to campaign for administration candidates and against opposition groups especially the militant party lists.

c. In the ongoing period of counting and canvassing of votes, efforts to directly manipulate the election results in favor of Malacanang’s candidates and against the administration’s opponents (senatorial candidates and party-list groups) are underway.

2. Comelec is directly complicit with the Arroyo administration in perpetrating the ongoing electoral fraud.

a. At its highest level, the Comelec issued statements, policies, and resolutions that were in accordance with the interests of Malacanang particularly in the Cayetano case, the Robredo disqualification, and the “Malacañang party list” issue.

b. The Comelec laid the groundwork for electoral fraud which include among others the private printing of election forms, padded voters’ list, selective implementation of laws and the last-minute appointment of BEIs.

c. The Comelec also aided and abetted fraud through its inaction on numerous blatant violations of election laws from the shameless vote-buying by administration officials to the blatant partisanship of the AFP.

d. The presence and promotion of election officers previously linked to fraud in Mindanao also shows complicity to commit fraud on the part of the Comelec.

e. Comelec chairman Abalos in particular makes it a point to rationalize if not cover up election-related anomalies which have come to light. He too is in a state of almost total denial when it comes to election fraud.

Palace to Bro. Mike: Thanks but no thanks

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday chose to ignore the advice of El Shaddai leader Bro. Mariano “Mike” Velarde to consider the results of the senatorial elections a message from the people for it to work on restoring its credibility.

“We thank Bro. Mike for his good intentions but we don’t quite agree with his characterization,” Press Secretary and presidential spokesperson Ignacio Bunye said Tuesday.

  5. The Administration and Comelec don’t give a Fig about what the electorate, the bishops, international observers et al says so why should we be surprised that Schizoglo also ignores what ‘Kontra-Daya’ says.
Even we bloggers are forced to ‘walk on eggs’ and not to rock the boat. We deserve all we get from this Schizoglo and her followers, she’s got us on the run – that is our suffering for a long time to come!

  6. Look at this Abalos, supposed to be in charge of Comelec, it’s a laff because he’s under orders from everybody else.

Take a real look at him, he’s an old man hoping to make a quick buck before he kicks the bucket says he’s a lawyer when we know that the country is full of crooked lawyers they’re ten to a penny.
But its our fault for knowing his involvement in the crooked 2004 elections and we allow him to do it again. Politicians have even lost their lives, too many.
    Kick the bastard out!

  8. People must get their act together, realise that Schizoglo will not leave her throne peacefully, ever! The only way to get rid of this Evil woman and her followers is to eject them – throw them out bodily – end of story.
If Comelec cannot do what they are mandated to do, assist the electorate to be able to vote peacefully and unabstructed – then an alternative must be found and applied otherwise where’s the people’s choice of leadership.

Isang malaking HINDI!

  11. What I see is that the majority of the electorate do not think that Comelec are conducting a fair & honest election.
Whether the Comelec are involved in a conspiracy or not is of no importance when we know that when problems are highlighted they don’t even lift a finger to investigate it. Its going to be a copy of the 2004 elections where the discrepancies made by Comelec officers were ignored and to add insult to injury, Abalos promoted these officials and even placed them where the discrepancies are again occuring in this 2007 election.
On past performances of the electorate in the 2004 elections Abalos knows that the electorate will talk and talk of the poll discrepancies in this election but will actually do nothing about it!
So, with a Comelec unable or unwilling to produce to the people a clean & honest election result. what are we expected to do to choose our leaders. Nothing! you must be joking Mr Abalos. A kid from grade 3 could do a better job than your Comelec Tom Foolery. Peaceful & Honest elections my ass, your an insult to the Bar and the lawyers profession.
So, Mr Abalos, what should we do to choose our leaders?

Nakakalungkot isipin na we, as a people, will be looked at as “mandaraya, magnanakaw, sinungaling” simply because, we allowed these people to win kahit na alam, na alam natin kung papaano. Many will simply shrug their shoulders and say- ” wala na talagang pag-asa.” Didn’t Pres. Quezon say
“I’d rather have a Philippines, run like hell by Filipinos, rather than run like heaven by foreigners”? Ito na nga- do
    we say AMEN?

  14. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

It’s not failure of elections in some parts of the country, but,its failure of the electoral body-COMELEC to conduct fair and clean elections. Massive cheating, vote-buying, intentional disfranchisement of voters, ballot snatching, tampering of election results, terrorism and intimidation are deliberately planned to achieve GMA’s political victory by hook and by crook. Abalos’ COMELEC STINKS!

Relevant to the topic. Please allow me to post this manifesto signed by Ramon R. del Rosario Jr., chairman of the Makati Business Club, and Albert F. del Rosario, president of the Management Association of the Philippines.

We are deeply disturbed by reports that no actual voting took place in some parts of Maguindanao and that teachers were instructed to fill up ballots. If true, we are appalled that such spurious votes are now being canvassed at the municipal and provincial levels. These reports gain credence as the Comelec-accredited poll watchers have complained that they were not allowed to carry out their responsibilities. The Namfrel Maguindanao head reported that his volunteers were not given their copies of election returns or certificates of canvass. If indeed there has been a failure of elections in Maguindanao and possibly in other provinces in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and yet the votes are still canvassed up to the national level, the outcome of the senatorial election could be materially affected.

By contrast, the local elections appear to have been credible in many other places in the country. The people’s will has been respected, the losing candidates have accepted the results graciously and the markets have responded positively. If the process in the Senate race is as credible, we will have achieved success as a democratic nation. Even as the nation awaits the results of the 2007 elections, we in the business sector are more keenly interested in the integrity of the electoral process. If the elections are not credible, there will be political instability which will affect overall confidence and our economic momentum. Businesses may grow, but certainly they will not grow at their full potential.

We therefore welcome the decision of the Comelec to motu propio investigate the situation in Maguindanao but urge them to do so as soon as possible and not wait until after the special election in Lanao del Sur. These anomalies have happened in previous elections in the same place. We cannot afford for it to happen again. If nothing is done to uncover what truly happened, it will be a travesty. Democracy in the Philippines is on trial today and much of our country’s well-being depends on the credibility of this election. We call on all those involved to respect the true will of the people.

Ellen, did the GO candidates not field in watchers in the disputed areas? Knowing fully well how the elections were always rigged in these areas( Mindanao), the opposition should have employed watchers more than any other parts of the Philippines. For sure, there are locals who would have understood the cculture and would have known how to deal with the situation one way or the other.

As I was watching Abalaos and his comrades on the Maguindanao issue of wholesale election fraud, I saw only a yellow box brought into the room with the supposed COCs. Just one box of doctored COCs and Abalaos was pushing for these bogus COCs to be counted. Whichever way I look at this Abalaos, he is apt to no good. His actions speak louder than his words. He is rotten, rotten, rotten! He is the main operator in the May elections’ widespread cheating! The tiyanak knows it and his black soul knows it. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it is a duck. Abalaos is that quacking duck! Too much quacking already Abalaos! Redeem yourself. You know damn well that your cheating operations in Mindanao has been exposed. The best thing you can do is declare it null and void and have another election excercise. Be transparent!

  18. No, Xanadu, Pandak has not been greeted here by “Banzai” (Mabuhay) or “Bonsai” which is an object of beauty. She is greeted by protests. Everybody here now knows that she is “the most hated president in the Philippines.”

A friend told me that she has made specific instruction to the embassy staff to clip all news on her Japan visit in an apparent attempt to refute report that there has been this untoward reports and protests against her in Japan.

The truth is she is now being looked at as the female version of Adolf Hitler, and the like of Esperon is more like the Gestapo. Heil Pandak! Bagay! 😛

Now we wait for the day when she commits suicide like ala-Hitler!

I’ll go to our temple tomorrow and pray that her Japan visit will be a failure and an embarrassment although when it comes to “hiya,” I doubt if she will be affected at all kasi nga makapal ang mukha!

  19. PSB:

Based on reports we received from friends in those areas where rampant cheating was done, ang hirap daw pumasok because of the battle-geared military and the hoodlums threatening the teachers, pollwatchers, etc. Funny that even in Japan we meet these Filipinos who still have that slave mentality, that they’d better shut their mouth now that be silenced forever!!!

  20. Ooops, this should read, “they’d better shut their mouth now THAN be silenced forever!!!

The usual alibi by Comelec chief Abalos when his men hands caught in cookie jar: ‘HONEST MISTAKE’. The fraudulent results in Maguindanao, Lanao, Davao City, Sulu and Zambales need a deeper investigation. Fraud witnesses can not come openly due to fear of their lives and safety of their families. They don’t trust the Comelec because it’s closely identified with Jose Pidal and Gloria Arroyo. Comelec is the extension arm of GMA cheating machine.

  23. Diego:

Comelec is not just an extension. It is the cheating machine. It should be abolished.

“Honest mistake”? Says who? Si Abaloslos? There is nothing honest with his mistakes. They are all packaged “mistakes” to make sure the TU wins. But as we have witnessed these past weeks, Somebody Up there has listened to the cries of the people. Abalos is finding it hard to thwart the Will of God and of the people. He should also be please reminded that “God cannot be mocked!”

    May 23, 2007
Another 12-0 slate for senatorial candidates in favor of administration candidates is in the offing as ballot boxes from several municipalities in Shariff Kabungsuan province were brought to Shariff Aguak, the capital town of Maguindanao, a report reaching Luwaran today. Ballot boxes from Matanog, Kabuntalan, and Parang, all in Shariff Kabungsuan, were transported to Shariff Aguak by the order of a high government official, who is not named in the report.

Back to topic: GO is winning big time. I don’t think that the current trend is going to change. COMELEC’s hand in getting some TU candidates into the winning circle is too big to be invisible. What’s amusing is the ease with which Chairman Abalos had used the “clerical error” excuse twice now to wiggle out of sticky situations. 2005 saw the Philippines bearing the brunt of a “lapse in judgment”. Are we now headed for a beating courtesy of “clerical errors”? H’wag naman sana…

  27. ABS-CBN Breaking News re Comelec vote stealing.
The Commission on Elections suspended Wednesday the canvassing of certificates of canvass from the province of Sulu after an opposition lawyer noted several discrepancies in the COCs.
Atty. Leila de Lima, lawyer for Genuine Opposition candidate Alan Peter Cayetano, said some vote tallies for senatorial candidates were “superimposed” in the COCs without authentication from the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC). She added that the COCs did not bear the signatures of watchers, representatives or lawyers from all six political parties.
She said two municipalities in Sulu have yet to submit their COCs. “We have to be careful especially with the votes from Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The percentage of voting in that area is unusually high,” she said.
In Luuk town, GO senatorial candidates Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Cayetano got zero votes while Kilusang Bagong Lipunan bet Joselito Cayetano got 187 votes.
De Lima said she asked COMELEC to defer the canvassing of the Sulu COCs. She also asked the poll body to produce the statements of votes and election returns from the contested municipalities.
Clerical error eh! Abalos keep your lying mouth shut.

  28. Will the cheaters win again and proclaim the TUta senators in the shadows of the night? Disgusting!

  29. This the chance for the people to stop this Administration and Comelec lying and stealing ways once and for all with all the people having a ZERO TOLERANCE. After all its the votes that belong to the electorate that they have stolen.
Throw these criminals out of office and put someone HONEST TRUTHFUL & JUST in their place. Its not so difficult for the people to do – just don’t recognise these officials and do it

  30. I agree up to a certain point with President M L Quezon.

But it is also my belief that we Filipinos shouldn’t allow these thieves to run the Philippines and the Filipinos to the ground. Those Filipinos like Gloria and her bunch of hooligans who are hell bent on running the Philippines in a hellish manner should be sent to their own hell.

The standing order of the Blinky Tiyanak: 12-0 for the Team Unity Team Arroyo (TUTA).

And that is being done by the ass-licking COMELEC Chair Benjamin Abalos. The protestations and expose from different watchdogs in the recently concluded May 14, 2007 mid-term elections on massive electroral fraud in Maguindanao have no match with the tune of “it’s all hearsay” from Abalos. The documents and video footages taken by the volunteers do not mean anything to him.

It is now or never that the COMELEC as an important institution, to redeem itself. Give the mandate to the candidates who were chosen by the electrorate. Not with those the Blinky Tiyanak wants installed.

Electing a leader is a privilege and a right of every citizen and if “CHEATING” is the name of game with the ass-licking COMELEC Chair Benjamin Abalos at the helm, I agree with we-will-never-learn, whom we chose will NEVER be the leader.

  32. Anna,

“But it is also my belief that we Filipinos shouldn’t allow these thieves to run the Philippines and the Filipinos to the ground. Those Filipinos like Gloria and her bunch of hooligans who are hell bent on running the Philippines in a hellish manner should be sent to their own hell.”

WE, FILIPINOS shouldn’t allow these thieves…

Right on! The current dispensation (maybe, even the previous ones) had succeeded in making hell out of the Philippines. Sad part is, generations after generations of common Filipinos had allowed them, either by mere apathy or by helplessly depending on external intervention (mostly, American).

Conrado de Quiros, in his column today, opined that proving cheating in the recent elections is no longer as necessary as it was in the previous ones. Cheating is so brazen nowadays that the only mystery is how people afford to take it sitting down. It is no longer enough to cry foul against cheating, the people must now match the cries with actions. We must no longer go gentle into the night- we have to rage against the fading of light.

To look up to external forces for solutions to internal maladies had proved to either be a painfully slow ride or downright ineffective. If we ever need a helping hand as a people, the only available hands are the ones at the end of our own arms.

  33. Aye, Ka Enchong, how absolutely right de Quiros and you are!

“Cheating is so brazen nowadays that the only mystery is how people afford to take it sitting down.”

“If we ever need a helping hand as a people, the only available hands are the ones at the end of our own arms.”

Indeed, I am kind of gobsmacked that our people should take these brazen thieving and cheating sitting down. Anywhere else, there would have been hell to pay.

But perhaps, Fr Shay of PREDA’s observation of the Filipino people’s character is dead on:

“Those of us who live with Filipinos know them as friendly, non – aggressive, kind, helpful and peaceful people. In Filipino society, the majority avoids conflict and strives to live in harmony and care for each other.” (He wrote this in a piece “Who trains the assassins?” – Reflections from PREDA and Fr. Shay Cullen, Philippines # 316.)

I believe him. There is only a minority of gangsters in the Philippines and equally a miniscule number of hooligan politicians in proportion to the population but their little number is enough to bring hell to the country where there shouldn’t be hell just as terrorists in the South, the Abu Sayyaff who apparently number no more than a hundred could give the AFP’s 120,000 officers and men a run for their money.

Just look at the miniscule size of the person who’s managed to tame political fiefdom to almost total subservience, i.e., impeachment case against her… her miniscule person was enough to produce hell in the country precisely because of what Fr Shay said, “In Filipino society, the majority avoids conflict and strives to live in harmony and care for each other.”

The hell in the Philippines is created by the unwillingness of the majority to avoid conflict.

  34. Ooops, sorry…meant “The hell in the Philippines is created by the WILLINGNESS of the majority to avoid conflict” and if I may add, “to leave everything to God.”

(I bet God gets tired of hearing that old refrain from our countrymen after all didn’t He say, ‘I will help you if you help yourselves.’)

  35. Chabeli Chabeli

However Gloria chooses to look at it, she LOST her people’s confidence & trust. The people hate her. She can try to cheat to show that she is still a strong president. But, last May 14, 2007, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has become irrelevant.

What we have seen in the 2004 fraudulent election starring ‘Garci’ is just a ‘teaser’ of the electoral process in our country. Now, we are seeing the more detailed happenings (manipulations) before, during, and after elections. And it is VERY OBVIOUS that the KUMOLEK people were ‘paid in whatever forms’ to play very important roles in what would be the outcome of the election. It seems that the ‘KOMISYON on Election’ really has ‘no teeth’ and independence to implement the law. SUNOD-SUNURAN lang sa pekeng Arroyo. Abalos and the other Kumisyoner are in BIG TROUBLE at litong-lito na sa nangyayaring pagka-buking ng mga anomalya. Hindi nila alam kung ano ang gagawin. Patay-Malisya na lang. The whole KUMISYON ON ELECTION should be abolished and replaced!

  39. luzviminda luzviminda

    DKG,

I agree! It is not a failure of election but the failure of the elctoral body to conduct fair, clean and, honest election. THE ABALOS’ COMMISION ON ELECTION IS A BIG FAILURE!!!

  40. luzviminda luzviminda

Cases should be filed in court against those people, especially from the COMELEC, who will be found guilty of electoral fraud and violations. We should not allow these violations of the laws go unpunished. We must start doing our electoral process right especially that 2010 elections is coming. GOOD LUCK PHILIPPINES!

There’s an election law which says that if someone who is found to have committed “electoral sabotage” faces life imprisonment. This law has never been tested yet. Sana lang may masampolan this time.

    Off topic…

    Ms. Ellen,

Is it true that Lucio Tan was the one who recommended Ong in exchange for his (Tan’s) political support of Gloria’s Team unity ?

  44. The law says someone who is caught cheating has to be disqualified, arrested, prosecuted and punished. This has never been done to the greatest cheat of all. She actually does not have to be impeached, but disqualified. The right term for this person is not “President of the Philippines” but criminal suspect!!!

Unless Filipinos demand for this course of action, they deserve what they get. And the nerve of the creep to promise them 4B dollars in loans to the ones she already has borrowed since she grabbed power just like what her father did when he was president that my professor then used to drum into our young minds that ours and the future generations of Filipinos would never be able to pay.

My professor was right as a matter of fact, so how can this crook claim that the peso is stronger than the dollar and keep on lowering the rate of the peso for the dollar amidst the poverty being salvaged by prostituting Filipinos overseas?

Apparently, this creep now gallivanting in Japan is good at nothing but tell lies! Fortunately, whether the peso rate is lowered to the dollar does not have that much repercussion on other economies since the only industry the Philippines has is making babies to deploy overseas when they are old enough to work, nobody overseas seems to mind and complaint. The only ones to be alarmed and check this fallacy are the Filipinos who pay for these loans received in dollars and have to pay in dollars. These loans in fact do not make them richer but poorer!

The head of Comelec now was once a judge in the lower courts before. I wonder how he dispenses the cases brought to his sala then, if we were to guage his performance now as Comelec chief as basis….???? Hmmmmmm!!!!!!

  47. Point is over in the Philippines, only the poor and those without connections get to be prosecuted and punished. Money talks is the game over there. Sad but true!

Funny how the Malacanang robbers and thieves now dismiss the allegations of election fraud in Mindanao. If they cannot allow another election to be conducted there, Filipinos should strongly demand that the votes there not be counted as punishment for the people for not being bold enough to guard their sacred votes. Period!

In the Ilocos, they should also consider votes where cheating is reported done as null and void. This will give Chavit Singson a good lesson not to try to control the election there for he is no chieftain of the Ilocos even when he is a jueteng lord and cheapten! Kinana nga pulos!

  48. Kinana din si Pandak. Now she says she has not been told of the protests in Tokyo. Sinungaling! I’ve been posting the information here in Ellenville long before she left Manila. Akala niya siguro hindi totoo.

Hear ye, Malacanang robbers and thieves, Japanese media even calls her now as “the most hated president of the Philippines.”

She better be ready with her lies when she is interviewed by the media here on Friday. A lot of the questions I believe will touch on the election rigged with cheatings and anomalies. Pwe!

BTW, how was the rally at PICC? Any photos on it?

  49. Malaya reports, “Bunye said he did not notice the reported demonstration at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. Siazon did not mention any incident.”

Gago din ano? What these creeps do not understand is that the Japanese are a unique people. What they say with their mouth is not what they think in their heads. Bunye, Santiago, etc. stooges of the Pandak should better put it in their heads that they are not succeeding in spinning the heads of Japanese officials like Abe, et al. They may be saying “Yes” but what it means is, “OK, but we’ll see first if your proposals will benefit the people of Japan. Otherwise, we will look for other alternatives that will be beneficial to us!”

Akala ni Pandak nakaloko na siya, not now that there are people here opposing her, and calling her as “the most hated president of the Philippines.” Heheheheheh!

Pack up sila ng bags. Now, I understand they operate in Australia. Hopefully, wala silang naloloko sa New Zealand!

  51. Point now is what happens next. Question now is who is Abaloslos going to announce as winners? Baka matanggal siya sa trabaho kapag hindi niya sinunod ang gusto ni Pandak who is apparently threatening now the ambassador of Japan for “not telling her about the protests in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya!” And what are Filipinos going to do about it?

I doubt if the soldiers wanting Trillanes to win will even dare click their guns on the protesters.

Enough is enough. Time for Filipinos to say “NO!” to these cheatings.

  52. This news report by Malaya is alarming:

    Top 9 likely proclaimed tomorrow

THE Commission on Elections said yesterday it might be able to proclaim tomorrow nine senatorial winners.

“Hopefully makapag-proclaim tayo maski partial. Yung talagang malayong-malayo na. But we still have to continue kasi yong iba ang hinahanap yung ranking. But we will not yet issue a certificate regarding the ranking,” Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos said at the sidelines of the national canvassing at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The Comelec, sitting as National Board of Canvassers, has canvassed 157 out of 262 Certificates of Canvass (COCs).

The nine leading candidates are Loren Legarda (13,001,677), Francis Escudero (12,885,824), Panfilo Lacson (10,864,539), Manuel Villar (10,808,729), Francis Pangilinan (10,296,830), Benigno Aquino III (10,048,522), Edgardo Angara (8,652,776), Alan Peter Cayetano (8,245,963) and Joker Arroyo (8,192,044).

    ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

If you notice, Trillanes has been no. 10 in a few reports but COMELEC is prepared to proclaim the first 9 winners.

Why can’t they declare the 12 immediately? Do a bit of arithmetic or at worst, declare the top 10!

Sounds suspect… Question: Are the COMELEC election (cheating)operators up to something?

Is it because the no. 10 slot belongs to Trillanes that the guys at Comelec – in keeping with their covenant with Gloria – prefer not to make the announcement for the whole 10 or 11 or even 12 top scorers? Are they trying to buy time to allow their good, I mean, their baddy selves elbow room for some tallying maneuvers?

Is there some kind of plot to rig the no. 10 slot and give it to someone else, you know, kind of by hook or by crook, get Trillanes out of the top 12?

You know, by announcing and giving the victory trophy to the first 9 early enough, Comelec is in effect pre-empting any potential trouble – their tactic is on the psyche, pull the rug from under the GO senatorial team with the “early” pronouncement; the first 9 will feel relieved that everything’s over, i.e., after all guys, you’ve won most of the top 9 spots, so keep cool, ok? They will then be free to do lots of hocus pocus with the votes for Trillanes.

Anyway, the whole Comemec thinggy is fuzzy. Think of panloloko, Abalos and his acolytes are tops!

With the best will in the world, I can’t believe that Abalos and Gloria aren’t in fact perfect partners in crime, election crime that is (and more…)

Sanamagan! These guys deserve to be guillotined.

He had respect of the USA, and could have stayed in the US but went home prior to wwll. He became Pres. Roxas Press Sec. and worked for RM as well. Love for the Phil. he instilled in all of us. Life in the US is not being in heaven. I would much prefer to live in Antique. Again, my thanks.

Just a question. After the counting of the ballots is finished do they reconcile the number of the counted ballots, plus the void ballots, plus the ballots not used
(for those who did not vote) equals the number of registered voters in the precint? It is a simple audit trail.

Koko Pimentel is not a bar topnocher for nothing! He will not be taking this beating sitting down. He will probably be the first person to make sure that the RA 9369 election laws will be followed to the letter! Abalaos may have underestimated these two candidates. Koko is a bar topnotcher whose father is a current senator and Trillanes is a brave soldier who has almost the whole military (including their families) behind him as Abalaos’ victims of his manipulations. It will not be easy for Abalaos to get out of this mess this time! Not even his most powerful Tiyanak can defend him. He has to watch his steps!

  56. PSB:

Sinabi mo pa. Koko is not an idiot to be swept aside without a fight based on the rules of law. But he better make sure he can fight it right, for these crooks may try to disbar him like what they did to a lawyer or two who have insisted on these crooks to abide by the law. Remember what has happened to Alan Paguia?

Point is why is the bar associations in the Philippines allowing these creeps to do this unfair treatment to their members. Recommendation for disbarment of a lawyer should not be coming from Malacanang. It should come from the bar associations they are related with, and only after proving that they have violated the law that they have taken oath to uphold.

The lawyers that should be barred in fact are the Fatso and his cahoots who are trying to interpret the laws upside down, and worst, trashed the Constitution in the waste bin. Enough of this bullshitting! PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  58. Out of topic, but I cannot help feeling skeptic about this Inquirer banner: “Japanese PM agree to put commitments in writing.”

So? Abe does not have any hold on the creeps making deals in this transaction of dumping toxic wastes to the Philippines if there are people willing to receive them in the Philippines? The control of this kind of shady transaction is the responsibility of the police, not the PM even when he is convinced to put this kind of agreement in writing. Bobo talaga! It actually does not mean anything. So, Bunye should not be calling this visit a success.

It is actually not a state visit. The Donya Boba was actually just invited by Nikkei to be one of the heads of state to speak in its symposium. Aba, nagdala pa ng kasama ang ungas na akala mo talagang state visit even when it is a mere private visit.

  63. The creep is not bringing home except laway. The projects for ODA grants are already made up. It is just that the Japanese government is being careful about allowing some creeps to get hold of the grants.

Japanese NGOs are in fact monitoring these grants that is why even if Abe says OK, the grants will have to undergo lots of scrutinies and raised eyebrows. Hindi naman paloloko ang mga hapon kay Pandak no matter how much she kurap-kurap her eyes!

bonsai plants and trees connotes the following:
    1.) caring hands as against hands filthy wet with people’s blood;
    2.) sparingly, and muted display of natural beauty over lewd and vulgar show of illicitly acquired power and wealth, and finally;
3.) cultivation of hard and honest values in every pursuit as against deliberate haphazard treatment of every imaginable issue requiring industry and probity.

Yes spare the bonsai from this. What the people of Japan should greet her should be: BAKERO! BAKERO! BAKERO! 🙂

  70. Xanadu:

Bonsai is a thing of beauty. The Unano is not. She is simply just a devil midget.

The members of the groups that protested against are high class people and a very educated group to be shouting expletives. They are very gentle by nature as those female lawyers leading the Human Rights Now who are members of the respectable Japan Federation of Bar Associations. That is why I guess the Midget will meet with scorn if she tells Japanese officials to clamp on these protesters. In fact, Sadako Ogata is a member of these women’s circle!

Kahit na maliit ang bonsai, Xanadu, it is a thing of beauty. The Unano is nothing but a symbol of ugliness and being beastly. She deserves to be in prison. Filipinos should not believe her. She is not bringing anything, not even a piece of paper proving that Abe has promised not to send toxic waste to the Philippines because he does not have any control over transactions being undertaken by private individuals except when they break the laws of Japan. Abe has no control over laws of the Philippines.

I know we have laws on toxic wastes, etc. but I don’t suppose he will bother implementing the said laws on Filipinos unless they reside in Japan. Akala siguro ni Pandak pati hapon kaya niyang alipinin. Tarantada talaga ang bobang iyan na nagdudunung-dunungan.

I bet you every place she goes now will have protesters protesting against her visit, etc. especially if she tries to insist that her TUtas like Pichay, et al are included in the Magic 12 even when they should be conceding by now.

She should be disqualified, arrested and sent to jail. Please!

  71. I like Lim when he plays like Clint Eastwood playing like a gun-tooting SFO cop. At least, we know for sure that Lim will not kowtow to Pandak. Good for Manila, they have Mayor Lim as their Mayor again.

Palace ducks fraud, pats Abalos for good job

    05/24/2007

Despite complaints of vote-buying and poll-rigging particularly against the candidates of the Genuine Opposition (GO) in the May 14 mid-term elections, Malacañang yesterday still gave Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. a “satisfactory” performance rating.

“He (Abalos) is doing his job well, we are satisfied with his perform-ance,” Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said during a chance interview,

Ermita added a revamp in the Comelec is needless at this time.

“There are constitutional measures to implement a revamp at the Comelec but, personally, I don’t see the need for it at this time,” he said.

Ermita urged critics to give Comelec officials a chance and let them finish their work before casting any judgment.

  79. Thanks, Ellen. Next step is to have a rally and a press conference over the planned daya by the time the Midget goes home with her fellow crooks.

Japanese media are not playing her games apparently. The news on the protests against Arroyo by Japanese and Filipino NGOs got more spot than the news on her meeting with Abe, whose popularity is also now going down, and they are more important than writing even about what the Midget claims to be Japanese ODA to her lousy government.

Ang kawawa ngayon ay si Siason, who BTW is no idiot that she can easily frighten. Baka masira si Pandak lalo sa mga hapon because Siason has more clout over here than her. Jojo, it is very interesting that you are looking at the differences in the votes as I do. The difference between Trillanes and Zubiri is about 350000 to 400000 only. If the Maguindanao and the contested votes coming from Maguindanao, Sulu and Lanao, the votes can total to over a million. So, if in those provinces just voted for the TUtas, then the last three senators will be replaced by the TUtas. This is the dirty game th tiyanak and her cheating machines are doing. This is why they are purposely delaying the counting of the votes in Maguindanao, some parts of Sulu and Lanao. These cheats are going to wait till the last 10 % or even less of the overall counting and then they will come out with the “command votes” coming from these questionable voting places and the last three candidates will be replaced by the three TUtas (zubiri, recto and defensor). That is very doable because the contested votes will easily be almost a million or so votes. Let us just pray that because of the widespread cheating in the contested areas, the votes will be considered null and void. But I do not think Abalaos will allow a reelection in these areas. These votes are the aces of the tiyanak. This is how downright dirty the tiyanak and comolec are. All planned and ready for execution, these contested votes will have to be delivered to the canvassers and these votes will unseat the last 3 or 4 candidates in the magic 12. Let us just pray harder this time the Lady Luck will be with us to keep our opposition candidates in place.

  82. Yuko,

I really am pleased about the rally against Gloria in Japan! Tee-hee… Imagine, whereever she goes, she’s greeted by Stop the Killings in the Philippines – labas nya ngayon sa mata ng mundo, mamatay tao and am sure that killer/murderer tag will stick at some point or the other.

Her name will be synonymous political killings and murders; she’ll be now known as the POLITICAL KILLINGS PRESIDENT OF PHILIPPINES as well as ELECTION CHEAT PAR EXCELLENCE…

I hope the guys in Australia will be able to stage a rally too. AI is quite strong there so let’s hope, they can.

By the way, I posted several pics you sent by e-mail of the vigil rally but this morning NAWALA LAHAT SA BLOG KO… wonder why. Could you re’send them to me please. Thanks.

  83. Apparently, Koko is doing his homework. Here is the provision of the law regarding Election Sabotage, which is what Abaloslos, et al are trying to do on order of the Boba dela Yuca who thinks she is the law.

The law called “RA9369,” which is the amended version of Sec. 27 of RA6646,
    provides:
“(b) Any person or member of the board of election inspectors or board of canvassers who tampers, increases or decreases the votes received by a candidates in any election or any member of the board who refuses after proper verification and hearing ,to credit the correct votes or deduct such tampered votes: Provided, however, That when the tampering, increase or decrease of votes or the refusal to credit the correct votes and /or to deduct tampered to deduct tampered votes are perpetrated on large scale or in substantial numbers, the same shall be considered not as an ordinary election offense under Section 261 of the omnibus election code. But a special election offense to be known as electoral sabotage and the penalty to be imposed shall be life imprisonment.
    “The act or offense committed shall fall under the category of electoral sabotage in any of the following instances;
    “(1) When the tampering, increase and / or decrease of votes perpetrated or the refusal to credit the correct votes or to deduct tampered votes, is/are committed in the election of a national elective office which is voted upon nationwide and the tampering, increase and/ or decrease votes refusal to credit the correct votes or to deduct tampered votes, shall adversely affect the results of the election to the said national office to the extent that losing candidate/s is /are made to appear the winner/s;
    “(2) Regardless of the elective office involved, when the tampering, increase and/or decrease of votes committed or the refusal to credit the correct votes or to deduct tampered votes perpetrated , is a accomplished in a single election document or in the transposition of the figure / results from one election document to another and involved in the said tampering increase and/or decrease or refusal to credit correct votes or deduct tampered votes exceed five thousand (5,000) votes, and that the same adversely affects the true results of the election ;
    “(3) Any and all other forms or tampering increase/s and/ or decrease/s of votes perpetuated or in cases of refusal to credit the correct votes or deduct the tampered votes, where the total votes involved exceed ten thousand (10,000) votes;
“Provided finally; That any and all either persons or individuals determined to be conspiracy or in connivance with the members of the BEIs or BOCs involved, shall be meted the same penalty of life imprisonment.”

  84. OK, Anna. Yes, I notice that your blog did not contain the pictures. Fortunately, Arkibo had published the pictures we took plus those of the groups that rallied likewise in front of the Consulate in Osaka and the train station in Nagoya.

Tomorrow, the foreign media will interview her and hopefully they will press on asking her about the election and the political killings, cheatings, etc. that her government has been doing. I actually made a placard calling her government bogus and she a criminal.

At least, we have succeeded in bringing to the attention of the Japanese public that this imp is a devil and a criminal, and she is now tagged as the most hated president of the Philippines. Nadaig pa si Marcos!

Pero talagang ang kapal ng mukha. Puro papuri sa sarili ang ginawa, but one thing sure is that she is not getting any new promises for aids. Mapapanis siya ng kahihintay with the Japanese human rightists (all lawyers mind you), et al demanding the Japanese government to stop all ODA to the Philippines until these extrajudicial killings are stopped and the culprits properly prosecuted and punished!

Unlike in the Philippines, Japanese citizens are not brushed off by their government. Everyone has a right to make demands on the government manned by public servants who are indebted to them, the Japanese citizens because they survive on our taxes.

Ang 1st year at 2nd year high school ay may tig-12 sections.

JJ/05, thanks for posting the “gaps” up. I’m very bullish about Trillanes. He’ll make it!

  89. chi chi

    Yuko-san,

Ang galing ng rally ninyo. Congrats!

Mahirap itong uma-absent, maraming binabalik-aral, heheh.

  90. chi chi

    Emil,

If only you’d hear the stories of Congress staff on JdV’s “maniobras” of their entire budget, maiiyak ka!

Never! Kailangan diyan ay matuluyan sa disgrasya!

  91. Chi,

JdV magmumukhang anghel, Nevah!

Birds of the same feather flock together ang mga ganid at sakim!

At siyempre maingay kami.

Lahat on government junket.

Time for Filipinos to say “No to the extravagance especially of one who has cheated her way to power!” Utak kriminal talaga!

  94. chi chi

    Yuko,

Trillanes is worth all the effort!

  95. chi chi

  97. Off topic but MLQIII says in his blog, “President asks Japanese PM to list his country’s commitments.” Ang kapal! Will somebody please tell this beggar (the Midget) that “Beggars cannot be choosers!” Akala mo naman talagang may ibubuga. Siguro sabi ni Abe sa sarili niya, “Baka, nani wo itte iru no?” (Stupid, what are you talking about?)

Panay ang papapel ni Pandak but she has failed to win the Japanese I am told. Bistado na ang kamada niya. Kakahiya! Kapalmuks! And the nerve of this crook to claim improved Philippine economy and yet continue to burden other countries for freebies, and dumping of Filipino workers where they are not even wholeheartedly welcome. Yikes!

  98. Just heard from our radio here (Japanese) about the news on Trillanes being now settled in the Magic 12.

Hindi na puedeng tanggalin ni Abaloslos iyan ngayon with foreign media watching with interest the chances of this brave soldier to be elected to the Senate.

May she be reminded that over here in Japan, begging is frowned upon. When a beggar begs, he is supposed not to complain even when his benefactor spits phlegm at him! Kapalmuks talaga!

The trend apparently doon sa mga hindi nadayang boto is 9-1-2 or 8-1-3 or 8-2-2. CONCEDE! CONCEDE! CONCEDE! Ipakulong si Abaloslos, et al!

  99. Nasupalpal pala si Pandak re the extrajudicial killings! Pero si Bunyeta, puro kabulastugan ang sinasabi. Akala niya lusot na sila.

As I have stated in previous post, they do not know the Japanese. What Abe says is not necessarily what is in his head. The Midget just probably got what Abe was willing to give—his smile and nothing more!

The national GO-UNO leadership, Kontra Daya, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voters (PPCRV) Legal Network for Truthful Elections (Lente) and Citizens’ Action for Responsible Elections (C-CARE) should help opposition governorial candidate Efren Rafanan to prosecute Comelec officials and their cohorts for massive electoral fraud. It‘s about time to punish them for sabotaging the true mandate of the Ilocanos. Warlords had been dictating election results for the past 40 years. There were massive cheating in big towns (Cabugao, Narvacan) and cities (Vigan, Candon) in favor of TU candidates. Ilocos Sur former senate president Ernesto Maceda should take lead in exposing ER’s tampering and dagdag-bawas scheme. Roman Catholic priests supported by their bishop, Nueva Segovia Archbishop Ernesto Salgado, condemned the dirty conduct of the 2007 elections for alleged massive vote-buying and vote-selling, along with what they called “opponent-buying” for an unopposed candidacy. Chavit’s running dog DV Savellano was declared as the governor-elect with a winning margin of 1,392 votes.
    COMELEC STINKS!

  102. Filipinos should not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by Abaloslos to declare only nine of the first 9 of the senatorial bets as winners.

No way! He either stops counting now and declare the candidates in the magic 12 as winners or sets a definite date to finish tabulating the votes in the CoCs so the people will know who their new sets of Senators will be.

He should stop playing with fire or be burnt in the process.

    Enough is enough.

Small but terrible tiyanak. I cannot stand looking at her face. Parusa rin ang marining ang boses niya.

I’ve just read JB Baylon’s column today titled “The time for Hanging.”
I suggest we should begin with the great Unano! Abalos should be hanged on the left side and the right would be her husband Oinky! Pweeh…!!!

  107. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

Tama ka Ellen! Dapat na talagang mapaalis si Abalos! Sabi nga ni JB Baylon ng Malaya, i-HANG talaga silang mga gumawa ng krimen against the people tulad ni Sadam ng Iraq! Hangga’t walang napaparusahan, walang pagbabagong magaganap!
The time is ripe for the people to take an action!

  108. xanadu xanadu

Kahit malupit, sangayon ako sa sinabi ni JB Baylon ng Malaya na “It is time for a hanging”. Ang kutob pa niya, sa napakaraming dapat ibitin ng patiwarik, sila’t sila rin ang mga taong gumagawa ng pandaraya, committing the same crimes over and over again.

Pero mabait naman ang Editorial sa Tribune sa pagsasabing: Cheating is not the Filipino way. The massive and organized cheating in the just-concluded elections says nothing of the true culture of Filipinos which is based on honesty and hard work. It merely projected how callous and brazen politicians have become under Gloria Arroyo’s watch.

  109. xanadu xanadu

Dan Mariano’s column at the Manila times attracted my attention with his “How do you solve a problem like Mindanao?”

He suggested that in future elections, the voting in Mindanao could be held a couple of weeks or so ahead of the rest of the country. That way, Comelec could field a greater number of its personnel to the troubled island. The same could be done by the police, the military, the election watchdogs and the media. Holding the voting in Mindanao ahead of Luzon and the Visayas would be no different from the absentee-voting option open to overseas Filipinos,

Such a scheme would certainly be an improvement over the failure of elections, which regularly occur in such places as Lanao del Sur. Not once were elections declared to have failed in order to give backroom operators the opportunity to boost the rankings of candidates who were trailing in the national canvass.

For me, the offered solution makes sense and it’s viable. We therefore call on all sectors to find solutions like this one and to well-meaning legislators to pay attention and seriously work on passing a law to reform the COMELEC once and for all.

  110. parasabayan parasabayan

Xanadu, it is a great idea to have a different election day for the troubled parts of Mindanao. This way there will be more security deployed in the polling places. It has to be done prior to the actual nationwide voting and not after like what we are doing now in Lanao.

I just read that Lomibao and Palparan are over seeing the special elections in Lanao. The local policemen are not designated to be in the polling places because some of them are somehow related to those who are running for office. Lagot na naman tayo! The good thing though is, we know now that most of our soldiers are not like robots anymore. They learned from the 2004 elections. It just makes me think though that election fraud will all be covered up again by these two tiyanak bodyguards (Lomibao and Palparan). I hope that the lower ranked soldiers will do their duties to the citizens and not to follow orders of rigging the elections again by these two tiyanak bodyguards. It is kind of odd though the the elections for the senators will be done after the citizens already know who the magic 12 winners are.

You know Xanadu, it may even be better if the voters in this troubled region will be given proper education on why they should excercise this priviledge to vote, how important this is for themselves, for their families and the whole country. A little lesson on patriotism will go a long way.

Tama po ang inyong sinabi that there should be some education and it should be part of school subjects to start with our young ones. And on patriotism, yes. It’s not too late naman. We have seen some changes in this elections which are encouraging signs. According to SWS, 84% of those who voted were not persuaded by surveys, meaning they acted on their own. I think its represented by the youthful voters. It effectively stonewalled the so called command votes which the TUs relied on heavily at napahiya sila.

  113. Ellen,

Just received an e-mail from a veteran journalist friend of mine in Manila who writes for both the Philippine and intl press. His e-mail was really to tell me that he didn’t think he would be able to visit Europe this year. We were actually expecting him together with his wife and children sometime this Summer. The letter contained, you know, the mundane things that friends write about to each other but a side note of his on the election caught my attention.

I tend to give his opinion great weight not only because he’s a journalist but also because he’s a very sensible bloke; to me, he’s always been an astute and logical observer.

Here’s his side note on the election:

Anna, things are really sweltering here in Manila — the heat has been unforgiving, I’ve kept the aircon on in my room practically the whole day for several weeks now. Just going out risks sunstroke and deyhdration. And of course, there’s the political heat as well. This, I have to say, has been the worst election I’ve seen since 1986, the one where Marcos tried to steal the vote crudely and massively. It’s just as crude now, perhaps even more so. Each day I risk a heart attack caused by rage and exasperation, which really isn’t fair — why should I be the one to suffer, it’s these bastards we call politicians who should be slow-roasted. Anyway I can see dark days approaching, I’m already preparing to go into Martial Law mode — that state of existence back in the 1980s where critics and the occasional random bystander were constantly at risk. The only consolation I can draw is that when Gloria sets up her regime, it will be those people currently in their 20s and 30s (the ones who are apathetic right now) who’ll feel it the most. And well-deserved it will be, too. Schadenfreude, nicht wahr? I just can’t help thinking it took us 14 years to wriggle out of Marcos, and here we are looking at another decade at least of Gloria.

  114. parasabayan parasabayan

Anna, it was nice of you to share with us the note from your journalist friend. Towards the end of his note is a statement about the youth. Xanadu and I were talking about the youth earlier. I mentioned the vital role of the young voters in my earlier posts. A third of the voters are 35 yrs old and younger. Some mayors who won in the elections are just 20 and 21 yrs old. This is too young for my standards but I guess voters believe in the idealism of these young ones. I hope the youth will stir the direction of our country towards a better governance.

What a difference a change in leadership of the Namfrel makes! Now the election guard dogs (Kontra Daya, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voters (PPCRV) Legal Network for Truthful Elections (Lente) and Citizens’ Action for Responsible Elections (C-CARE)) are biting and not just whining. The whole nation owes them a debt of gratitude.

  120. “Anyway I can see dark days approaching, I’m already preparing to go into Martial Law mode — that state of existence back in the 1980s where critics and the occasional random bystander were constantly at risk.”

Today’s prevailing conditions are just like, if not worse than, those in 1971 (according to my father’s recollection. I was young enough not to be admitted to a KG Class then). Reading accounts from that period, I got to know that almost everyone who cared then saw the writings on the wall- that martial law was just around the corner. However, everybody doubted Marcos’ ruthlessness. Everybody gave more weight to the doubts, only to be surprised by newspaper headlines in the morning of September 23, 1972. It would be a mistake now, if we start entertaining doubts as to Aling Gloria’s ruthlessness. While watching the counting closely, we must also think beyond a possible September 21, 2007 scenario- who knows, Marcial Bonifacio might just have a grand birthday party after 35 years?

  121. Anna, your journalist/friend’s instincts are sharp.

May I refer you to my article the day after election ,

    “O ano ngayon”:

    Ellen,

Franky, Mas gusto ko pang mapabilis ang mga pangyayari if your observations above can’t be avoided to take place in the near future so the people can act/react accordingly.

  123. Ellen,

Pareho ang opinion ninyo. I’m worried for my mother and sister. They still don’t want to leave the country.
