Trillanes supporters to launch campaign

Supporters of detained Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV are set to launch next week the “Trillanes Paglingkurin Movement” that will campaign for the reversal of the Makati regional trial court’s rejection of the detainee’s petition to be allowed to attend Senate sessions and have access to media.

Trillanes is currently held at the Marine brig in Fort Bonifacio pending completion of his trial in civilian and military courts for his role in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny.

Trillanes’ spokesperson Sonny Rivera said the new group will hold an information campaign beginning next week and solicit signatures of support. “We should put pressure into this illegitimate government to grant the wishes of the people, not only those who voted for Senator Trillanes, and to allow him to function as a lawmaker,” he said.

He said the signatures will also be presented to the Makati court.

He said the group’s membership includes Princess Nemenzo, the Freedom from Debt Coalition, Leah Navarro of Black and White Movement, Herman Tiu Laurel of the Partido ng Masang Pilipino and some 50 leaders of non-government organizations.

“The new advocacy group will launch educational caravans and seminars so that the people, not only the 11 million who voted for Sen. Trillanes will know his predicament,” Rivera said, adding that the group will mobilize these 11 million voters to assert Trillanes’ Constitutional right to serve his mandate.

Linggoy Alcuaz who helped form the new group said they will also come out with “Let Trillanes Serve” stickers within two weeks.

In yesterday’s hearing of Trillanes’ motion for reconsideration of his rejected request for furlough, Makati RTC Judge Oscar Pimentel gave petitioner until Aug. 20 to reply to the DOJ’s opposition to his motion, and the prosecution its own five days to comment on the reply. – Ashzel Hachero

As I said before, the puppetter that is gloria is the one holding the strings on the puppet that is oscar pimentel, but it’s worth taking a shot at launching a signature campaign. It might stir some conscience. Why not? There’s nothing more to lose, only something to gain. So let’s go for it!

  2. Good! I’ll be back to Tokyo next week, Ellen. We’ll squeeze some time to meet with my group and launch the above campaign there, likewise. Other overseas bloggers here should also do the same.

Sige, pirma tayo and let’s show this tianak that she has nowhere to go but exit!

  4. The people of the Philippines should likewise reprimand and protest against the judge of the Court for being stupid not to tell the unconfirmed secretary of injustice to shut his dumb mouth.

Just because the president assigns the minister to the justice department, it should mean that he/she should be given any control of the Supreme Court nor the courts in the land. It is in fact common sense not to allow especially a criminal from controlling the judicial branch of the government.

Sino bang ulol ang nagsama-sama ng mga branches of the government sa Pilipinas that the criminal squatting at the palace by the murky river can have control over them judges, lawmakers, et al? Dahil lang ba sa pork barrel?

Are Filipinos now that helpless? I don’t think so. Kaya nga merong Senator Trillanes e!

Time for another “Cry of Balintawak” sa totoo lang.

I think Malacanang Palace is pressuring Makati RTC Judge Pimentel. Injustice Secretary Raul Gonzalez is doing his best efforts to please Gloria Arroyo.

DOJ: Deny Trillanes’ motion to attend Senate hearings
The Department of Justice has advised a lower court to deny the motion for reconsideration filed by the camp of detained Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
The six-page opposition filed before the Makati Regional Trial Court asked Branch 148 Judge Oscar Pimentel to reverse his earlier decision on the request of Trillanes to attend Senate sessions and other related activities.

  7. Kaya nga DGK, mahinang klase ang mga hukom sa Pilipinas. Geez, hindi confirmed na justice secretary puedeng magdikta ng judge of the court ng Pilipinas? Unbelievable. Sa amin, bureaucrat hindi puedeng utuin ng isang political appointee lalo na sinusuka ng taumbayan. Ewwwww!!!!

I hate to admit..but it does look like this campaign is just an exercise in futility..However I am still very hopeful and pray that a miracle will happen..and to borrow a line in that song “Old soldiers never die..” “our cause is just and in God we trust.”
Yuko thanks for supplying the words of the song.

  9. Rose,

Although I did not fully understand the song because I was 4 or 5 when it became popular, and I would hear it played on radios, I loved the sound and the lyrics of the song.

My father was a great admirer of Gen. MacArthur, and he kept a copy of this song in his file. I’m sure glad to share it with Filipinos who still have real love for the Philippines, the land of our birth, regardless of whether or not we have retained our Filipino citizenship. Papel lang naman iyon as a matter of fact. The important thing is the spirit and love of country that these criminals seem to try to discourage and to kill! 🙁

Good luck ystakei. We count on you when you return in Japan. We’ve long been hearing you say telling us about your activities in Japan that include marching in the streets against the Arroyo government. Many of us here would appreciate if you send/post some of those activities here in this blog (with your physical presence) so that we here shall be all the more motivated with this crusade.
