Seven opposition senators petitioned the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday to allow their colleague, Senator Antonio F. Trillanes IV, to attend Senate session even under guard.
The seven senators are Senators Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr., Benigno Aquino III, Rodolfo G. Biazon, Panfilo M. Lacson, Loren B. Legarda, Jamby Madrigal, and Mar Roxas.
They filed a motion to intervene in Senator Trillanes’ petition in GR No. 79817.
In filing their motion, the seven opposition senators said that barring Trillanes from attending Senate sessions impairs their right to check excesses of government and the Senate majority and their capacity to block treaties prejudicial to national interest.
Senator Trillanes should be allowed to perform his duties as a senator even under guard, they said.
The senators cited four constitutional articles namely; Article II (Section 1), Article III (Section 14,(2) ), Article III (Section 1) and Article VI (Section 1) to justify their position.
They also used the doctrine of separation of powers to support their motion.
The motion to intervene was filed by young lawyer Elmar Jay Martin Dejaresco in behalf of the senators.

It’s not that triallanes should be given special privelege/s as an elcted official of the Philippines, I think he is more than willing to perform his functions even with the tight guarding of goons of the evil creature.
Whether he committed a crime of rebellion (which by the way he is not yet been convicted), some of the senators are willing to take him under their custody. The mere fact that he was elected in absentia, means that people wants him to serve in the August hall of the Philippine political system.
The HOODs are saying that they are for reconcilaition, but reconcialitation for a selective few, or better yet as long as they tow the line of the palace by the stinking river.
Why treat trillanes differently against honasan, who was guilty of rebellion, yet was able to campaign during the last election.
It is the people who will decide what kind of politician trillanes is. If he can deliver, then let’s hear him speak up in one of the senate plemary session.
My P1 question is, why is this government talking to the MILF and negotiating in the partition of the Republic, yet they are afraid in the person of trillanes??? If others who commited grave offenses are allowed to serve why not give him the chance to serve, anyhow, the HOODS could always surround him with people.
Are they afraid of him???are they afraid of one man who is destined to serve the motherland??? he who accept the fact that he took part in the “SO CALLED OAKWOOD MUTINY” is not even convicted and won the election is being castrated and denied of serving motherland as AN ELECTED PUBLIC OFFICIAL of the Republic.
My other P1 question is who more liable of treachery, one who only voiced his concerns over the malpractice of senior military officials or the one who uses everything to get what he/she wants and sell-out the Republic to the MILF??? your guess is as good as mine.
Let us hear/see him in the August hall of the Philippine political system and served his constituents. My curiosity is so high that I want to see this trillanes speak and be given the chance to serve.

I voted for Sen. Trillanes and I want to see him work in the senate. He has more better ideas than enrile, santiago, lapid, revilla, zubiri, and pangilinan. And I think he has the gall and the courage to pursue what is best for the country and not his self interest.
Si idol Sen. Trillanes ay para sa masa at lalo na sa ikagaganda ng Pilipinas, kaya siguro ayaw pa siyang pag bigyan ng pagkakataon na mag silbi sa bayan. Samantalang si Honasan ay para lang sa babae niya at lalong lalo na kay Enrile at kay KUNG FU PANDAK na taga himod ng pinagkainan ng dalawa.
Dapat lang na palayain na si Sen. Trillanes siya halal ng bayan, siya ay hindi nandaya, siya ay walang hello garci.

Peace! I believe that Senator Trillanes notwithstanding the standing cases against him must be allowed to attend the Senate sessions and represent the millions that had elected him Senator of the Republic.
The Man is NOT yet convicted and he is duly elected with NO sign of cheating or deception. He should attend all the sessions and then go back to jail after each session – no if’s and but’s!

What do we expect from Gloria Arroyo-controlled Philippine Supreme Court? Last June 2008, the GMA magistrates denied Sen. Trillanes’ assertion that he is not a flight risk. Gloria is allergic to real opposition in the Senate.

I am proposing that this six year limit for the Office of the President should be returned to four years because the chances of getting another corrupt leader is very high compare to a good one.
2010 is around the corner and Senator Trillanes has not yet attended even one Senate session. Trillanes is much better than other idiots in the Senate like Lapid who’re wasting the Senate seat. If the issue is security fearing that he might escape, then Malacanang and AFP could provide him with security to guard him in the Senate while attending session.
In his message to the Filipino people, Senator Trillanes wrote:
“To date, I have crafted 138 bills covering various areas of governance such as poverty alleviation, anti-corruption, defense and security, education, health care, labor and environment. These bills were meticulously done with the end in view of uplifting the lives of our people and making our country a better place to live in…”
Scanning these 138 bills, most of these bills are now pending on various committee after the first reading.
