PCGG to probe Marcos’ secret wealth in Australia

VERA Files in Yahoo

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) will look into the reported ill-gotten wealth of the late president Ferdinand Marcos in Australia believed to be under the name of a former swimsuit model whose daughter was reportedly dropped from a reality TV show after producers learned her father was the Philippine dictator.

“We will look at the money trail and see if the amount to be recovered would be worth the lawyers’ fees we would be spending for it,” PCGG Chairman Andres Bautista said, adding that he only learned about the alleged Marcos wealth in Australia Thursday when his staff showed him a news item that appeared in an Australian newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, about Analisa Hegyesi, an interior designer, who was axed from the reality show “Renovators” when she told producers she was the daughter of Marcos.

Hegyesi, 40, is the daughter of Evelin Hegyesi, 64, a swimsuit model in her younger days who had an affair with Marcos in the 1970s. Marcos, who ruled the Philippines for more than 20 years, was known to have affairs with actresses and fashion models.

Accountability in the Aug 23 hostage tragedy

If only the deputy ombudsman did his job honestly
The order of the Office of the President to dismiss Deputy Ombudsman Emilio Gonzalez from the service for “gross neglect of duty, gross inefficiency and misconduct in office (that) amounted to a betrayal of the public trust reposed in him” in connection with the case of former Manila Police District Police Senior Inspector (Captain) Rolando del Rosario Mendoza gave credence to the latter’s claim that he was a victim of injustice.

Of course, no one condones how Mendoza demanded justice which was to hijack a tourist bus full of Hong Kong nationals on a holiday visit. At the end of a 10-hour crisis that showed bungling by authorities, eight of the Hong Kong nationals were killed.

The actions of President Aquino during and after the grim incident had set a chain of diplomatic bunglings that have lasting effect on relations with China.

This is a press release from the Office of Executive Secretary Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa , who headed the panel that reviewed the recommendation of the Investigation and Review Committee headed by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima that headed the investigation of the Aug. 23 tragedy.

We hope Gonzalez is just the first of those that will be hold accountable for the fiasco that cost the lives of 8 Hongkong nationals and a series of blunders in the country’s relations with China. We are waiting what the government will do with Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, DILG Undersecretary Rico Puno and former PNP Chief Jesus Verzosa. They too were negligent of their duties.

Rolando Mendoza, on recommendation of Palace lawyers who reviewed the findings of the Incident Investigation and Review Committee (IIRC).

Media’s skewed coverage of execution of Filipino drug mules

A relative of one of the executed drug mule in China, snapped at a journalist at the airport,”Are you happy with what you are doing?”

Noli de Castro and other broadcasters and journalists who feasted on this story of the drug mules should answer that.

In my prayers for the families of Sally Ordinario-Villanueva, Ramon Credo and Elizabeth Batain for strength as they try to cope with the loss of their loved ones, I also ask that God touches the conscience of TV networks personalities who sensationalized the deaths of the three to boost their ratings.

The networks obviously wanted to replicate a Flor Contemplacion situation, a media event in 1995 that violated all rules of journalism, ignoring the facts of the case and reported based on emotions.

Marcos Australian daughter dropped from reality show

Dennis Garcia’s Facebook wall carried this news item from today’s issue of The Daily Telegraph. A 2004 article in the Sun-Herald gave an interesting background on Analisa’s mother, Evelin, and the awesome money that Marcos gifted her. The article tells us how much money were taken away from us. Just imagine if those money were used for the Filipino people.

Ferdinand Marcos’ girl is shown the door

Analisa Hegyesi
Take one home makeover reality show, add a contestant with serious interior designing credibility – and then apparently take it all away at the last minute because her dad was a corrupt Asian dictator.

That’s what Bondi designer Analisa Hegyesi – an Australian-based daughter of former Philippines leader Ferdinand Marcos- says she was told when production company Shine Australia rang her on Monday to say she was no longer part of its planned Renovators show.

The Channel 10 series starts filming next week, with a team of professionals locked down in an apartment block and taken to various properties to make them over.

Hegyesi told us she made it to the final cut after months of auditions and interviews – but was dumped after she mentioned who her father was to producers last week.

Nakakawindang, nakaka-iyak
