May sinasabi pa siyang “rules of engagement.”

Nagalit si Zubiri dahil sinabi ni Trillanes na nakinabang siya sa dayaan. “I believe Congressman Zubiri knows deep in his heart that he benefited from cheating. If he is decent enough, he wouldn’t accept it because that is not something you want your kids to emulate,” sabi niya sa panayam pagkatapos siya nanumpa sa harap ni Barangay captain Ruben Gatchalian sa Cloocan noong Biyernes.

Trillanes: Zubiri a cheat

This is what I like about Sen. Antonio Trillanes- he calls a spade a spade. If Zubiri makes it to the Senate courtesy of the manufactured votes of Maguindanao, he will just like Gloria Arroyo – got his position by cheating. We will forever regard him as Sen. Daya na Zubiri.

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday accused Team Unity senatorial candidate Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri of benefiting from cheating in the May mid-term elections.

Trillanes, who had just taken his oath of office, wasted no time in making his thoughts about Zubiri known.

Supreme Court junks Pimentel’s petition for TRO

The High Court’s decision will pave the way for the canvassing of the manufactured votes of Maguindanao. Zubiri will then become a senator by virtue of the votes manufactured by Lintang Bedol and company.

ABS-CBN’s report:

The Supreme Court en banc has dismissed the petition of the Genuine Opposition to stop the recanvassing of certificates of canvass from Maguindanao.

In a 12-0 decision, the high court said it has dismissed a portion of the petition filed by GO senatorial candidate Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

Opposition lawyers quit; Comelec continues canvassing

By Nikko Dizon
Inquirer

SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao — Lawyers of the Genuine Opposition (GO) Tuesday quit the scandal-ridden Maguindanao vote canvassing and Bayan Muna’s chief legal counsel staged a walkout, charging the proceedings were meant to “legitimize” fraudulent vote tallies.

A special board of canvassers is retabulating the tallies — or municipal certificates of canvass (CoCs) — from 22 towns to determine who between the administration’s Team Unity (TU) candidate Juan Miguel Zubiri and GO’s Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III would take the 12th Senate slot in the midterm elections.

As of Tuesday, partial results of the retabulation of tallies from five towns showed Zubiri with 56,865 votes and Pimentel III with 23,466.

Trillanes defies tradition, to take oath before village chief

Just when his fellow senators-elect had Chief Justice Reynato Puno administer their oaths of office, Senator-elect Antonio Trillanes IV will defy tradition by tapping a village chief in Caloocan City for the same ceremony.

An ABS-CBN News report said Ruben Gatchalian, barangay captain of Barangay 169, will administer the oath-taking of Trillanes at the Christ the King Parish on Friday.

Trillanes, in jail for charges related to the July 2003 Oakwood mutiny, is expected to be given a one-day furlough by the court for the ceremony.

A warning to Abalos

Update: Abalos to critics: they can jump to hell

It’s too bad that the Metro Manila Council resolution banning rallies and motorcades in Metro Manila major thoroughfares passed last week will not be taking effect until 15 days of publication of the implementing rules and regulations.

Tomorrow’s motorcade rally by the Concerned Citizens Group would have been a good test case.

Tomorrow, at 9 a.m.. the CCG will express their “outrage and disgust over the blatant, frontal cheating maneuvers in Maguindanao” by holding a motorcade from Liwasang Bonifacio to the Comelec office in Intramuros.

CA confirmation costs P5 M – Teves

Update: What extortion at CA? – Pichay

This is great. Worms are wriggling out of Arroyo’s Pandora box. Fired BIR Chief Mario Buñag disclosed the manipulation of tax collection by Finance Chief Gary Teves. He said Teves should also be fired.

Teves’s father, Rep. Herminio Teves, came to his son’s rescue and dropped another bomb: racket in the Confirmation on Appointments.

Philippine Star/ABS-CBN story below:

By Jess Diaz

A Cabinet member who wants to be confirmed by the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) has to shell out at least P5 million to win confirmation, outgoing Negros Oriental Rep. Herminio Teves disclosed Thursday.

Esperon passes buck to Pimentel

In Strictly Politics (ANC) last night, AFP Chief of Staff Hermogenes Esperon showed a copy of a letter he was sending Judge Oscar Pimentel of the Makati Regional Trial Court today (Wednesday) asking the judge clarification on the custody of Senator-elect Antonio Trillanes.

He said if Pimentel, in whose court the coup d’etat charge against Trillanes and fellow Magdalo soldiers in connection with the July 2003 “Oakwood mutiny” is being tried says Trillanes should be released to civilian custody, he will release Trillanes from his confinement at the Marine Brig in Fort Bonifacio.

But, he said, if Pimentel says Trillanes stays under military custody, he (Esperon) will not allow him to attend sessions in the Senate.

The ghost of Hello Garci is back

The plan of the three Cavaliers in the new Senate – Senators Rodolfo Biazon, Panfilo Lacson and Antonio Trillanes IV, to re-open the investigation of the “Hello Garci” scandal must be giving some officials sleepless nights.

This investigation would render irrelevant the Mayuga report which Malacañang and the military leadership had tried so much to keep from the public. Retired Admiral Mateo Mayuga (now defense undersecretary) has been quoted to have said that he will bring the secrets of his report, which I presume would be the involvement of ranking military officials in the cheating for Gloria Arroyo in the 2004 elections, to his grave.

Well, he can bring his whole report to his grave, the people will have a way of uncovering the truth.
